NEW YORK (AFP) — Two-time US Open champion Venus Williams has avenged an earlier loss by routing ninth seed Agnieszka Radwanska 6-1, 6-3 setting up a showdown with sister Serena in the quarter-finals.
Venus, who won back-to-back US Open titles in 2000 and 2001, avenged a loss to the Polish No. 1 in their only other career meeting two years ago in Luxembourg, where 17-year-old Radwanska won 6-3, 6-0.
Venus Williams' sister, Serena Williams who is fourth-seeded, has easily beat Severine Bremond of France 6-2, 6-2 in the fourth round of the 20.6 million dollar US Open on Monday.
Venus hammered four aces, won 77 percent of her first serve points and converted five of 14 break-point chances in the 84-minute match at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
