Russian police break up demo over Kremlin critic's death

NAZRAN, Russia (AFP) — Russian security forces on Tuesday broke up a rare protest in the turbulent Caucasus province of Ingushetia called in response to the death of a Kremlin critic who had been in police custody.

Police and special forces arrived in two trucks to disperse the demonstration, which had begun on Monday, firing warning shots and hitting the demonstrators with batons.

They were protesting against the fatal shooting in a police car on Sunday of opposition leader and website owner Magomed Yevloyev.
