WASHINGTON (AFP) — Three more detainees have been transferred from the US "war on terror" detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to their home countries, the Pentagon said Tuesday.
Two of the detainees, who were not identified, were taken to Afghanistan and the third to Pakistan, it said in a statement.
"These detainees were determined to be eligible for transfer following a comprehensive series of review processes," it said.
The move leaves about 255 detainees at Guantanamo, of which more than 60 have been identified as eligible for transfer or release, the Pentagon said.
"Departure of these detainees is subject to ongoing discussions between the United States and other nations," it said.
