McCain camp doubles down on Palin experience claims

ST PAUL, Minnesota (AFP) — John McCain's presidential campaign on Wednesday took on claims that his shock running mate pick Sarah Palin is inexperienced, arguing she had better leadership credentials than Barack Obama.

Hours before Alaska governor Palin was set to address the Republican convention, the campaign released a political advertisement saying Palin was a "reformer" while branding the Democratic nominee as made up of "empty words."

Republicans have mounted a fierce defense of Palin who has been trapped in a firestorm of political and personal revelations since she was chosen by McCain last week.
