SILVERSTONE, England (AFP) — Defending world champion Lewis Hamilton enjoyed his 'home-coming' on Friday when he clocked the seventh-best time in free practice for Sunday's British Grand Prix.
The 24-year-old Englishman, in his McLaren Mercedes, said he used a revised set-up to find consistent lap times, but was thrilled to be back racing in front of his home crowd.
"It took me a while to get used to the car this morning," he said.
"It feels a little different from what we've been running in previous races.
"But generally, I'm very happy with the balance but, with a revised car and on a high-speed circuit like this, it takes a bit longer than usual to find the limit.
