US Treasury chief to visit Mideast, Europe

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner travels to Europe and the Middle East next month for talks ahead of the next G20 economic summit to be hosted by the United States, his office said Tuesday.
The trip from July 12 to 16 will cover Britain, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and France, the Treasury Department said in a statement.
He will "discuss a range of issues including collective actions taken to help ensure a sound and sustainable recovery from the global economic and financial crisis," it said.
"The trip will provide the secretary with an opportunity to consult with key partners and stakeholders in advance of the G20 Summit in Pittsburgh," the statement said.
