Defeated Iran conservative scraps vote complaint

TEHRAN (AFP) — Defeated Iranian conservative candidate Mohsen Rezai has withdrawn his complaint about the disputed presidential election, dealing a blow to the opposition which alleges the vote was rigged.
"(Iran's) political, social and security situation has entered a sensitive and decisive phase, which is more important than the election," the former Revolutionary Guards chief said in a letter to the top election body the Guardians Council, the official IRNA news agency reported.
"I feel it is my duty... taking into account my pledge as a soldier of the revolution, the leader and the people, to inform you that I renounce following up on my complaints," it quoted him as saying on Tuesday.
