Jennifer Melton and Brennan Johnson got their inspiration for their million dollar business while out on a date. Back in 1998, the newlyweds were spending an enjoyable evening at an animal shelter when they decided to take a young German Shepherd mix home with them. Months later, the couple discovered that their newly-adopted family member, Samantha, suffered from food allergies and a sensitive stomach.
The couple began to search far and wide for food that would not upset their adorable puppy. After experimenting with many different dog treats on the market with no success, they started baking wholesome, preservative-free treats in their own kitchen using the same ingredients you would find in human food.
