A PC With Your Paycheck?

So you've got a decent salary and two weeks of vacation--but does your company give you a PC for your home? Last week the Ford Motor Co. and Delta Air Lines announced plans to offer all their employees fully loaded PCs with Internet access, for only a small monthly charge. Ford's deal is a bit sweeter than Delta's. Each of its 350,000 employees, from mechanics to top brass, can pay $5 a month for a Hewlett-Packard computer with a color printer, 56K modem and Internet access through MCI's UUNET service. Ford touts the benefits of keeping employees plugged into corporate info, as well as helping them become savvier on the Web. Delta's deal is similar, though it has yet to settle on a computer maker, and its 72,000 workers will pay up to $12 a month. But they can opt for a laptop....
