It was Grand Theft Auto 3, where players try to move up through the ranks of the Mafia by delivering mysterious packages, ferrying hookers to and from their dates, tailing suspected snitches, planting car bombs to take out rival bosses and more. Like that Humvee? Just carjack it. Looking for some female companionship? Pick up a prostitute in the red-light district for a red-light special. But each of your actions has consequences. Start shooting pedestrians, and the cops will do their best to bring you in. Shoot a cop, and his buddies will call in the FBI; kill an FBI agent, and the military will pull out all the stops to take you down. With extreme prejudice.
