For a bit more, you could upgrade to a card from Meri Meri, where the cover designs do all the talking. Beads, ribbons and even feathers poke out from the witty, fun and colorful shoe, purse and sports-car motifs. Valerie Cooper of the Greeting Card Association calls them "sleek, hip and happening." Twenty years ago, Meredithe Stuart-Smith (Meri was her childhood nickname), a museum art teacher turned stay-at-home mom, took a stroll through a greeting-card aisle and noticed a certain lack of, let's say, style.
