And so ends another day of watching the Eagles make sausage.

Grind. Grind. Grind.

Glamorous, no. Effective, yes.

Sometimes you want to avert your eyes, but what comes out is, more often than not, a success.

The Birds can be, by turns, infuriating and exasperating, but they also have the happy knack of sweeping up all the leftover parts on the floor and from those leavings fashioning something palatable.

They arrived at season's midpoint yesterday by grinding out another win, their fifth, and their third against an opponent with a losing record. One thing they do well is win when matched against the punching bags of the NFL, which, happily for them, are in inglorious abundance.
