Berwyn firm and IBM expand medical-image archiving
A Berwyn company that has developed software for archiving medical-imaging records and IBM announced technology for hospitals yesterday that can store and retrieve all digital medical images in case of a hurricane, fire, or computer-system interruption. The company, i3Archive, and International Business Machines Corp. now provide 25 hospitals, including the University of Pennsylvania, with a separate system of storage and retrieval of digital mammograms, breast MRIs, and breast ultrasound records. I3Archive and IBM said they have expanded the backup system to include all medical images, including CT scans, PET scans, cardiology records and X-rays that can be instantaneously accessed if a hospital's own...
