School district official feted by college for leadership
James. J. Lavender of Woolwich has received the President's Award for Leadership from Wilmington College in Delaware. Lavender, the director of early childhood education for the Gloucester City School District, received the award for leadership, dedication to his local community and the impact his research has had on the field of education. Lavender's doctoral research investigated strategies to help children offset many of the negative barriers faced at home. He is a member of the Woolwich Township Committee.
