Chester needs OT to edge L. Merion

As if their own private history demanded excellence, Chester and Lower Merion provided a classic finish to the District 1 Class AAAA tournament last night at Villanova University.
In a game of highs and lows but no leveling off of excellence on either side, it was almost mandatory that a buzzer-beating three-pointer would end this rematch of last year's state championship game - and no surprise that sophomore Karon Burton of Chester would push it into the air.
A pint-sized keg of dynamite, Burton's one-handed pushaway went in as time expired in overtime, giving Chester an 83-80 victory and its fifth consecutive district title.
