Phila. has its say on slots parlors

As more residents of Philadelphia neighborhoods that may host a slots parlor took the microphone today to offer concern or advice, it is clear that three of the five projects are drawing most of the attention.

More people have offered testimony about TrumpStreet Casino & Entertainment Complex, Foxwoods Casino Philadelphia and Riverwalk Casino than the SugarHouse Casino and a casino planned by Pinnacle Entertainment.

About two dozen individuals and 18 community groups have signed up to offer their thoughts on the plans to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on the Drexel University campus today. Traffic gridlock and an expected increase in crime as a result of the slots parlors are the most frequent criticisms.
