Republican voters in Delaware County should have an easy time deciding the nomination for state Senate in the 26th District, which also includes two Chester County communities.

Their best choice is the incumbent, Edwin B. "Ted" Erickson.

Erickson, 67, not only has an impressive breadth of experience in local, state and federal government posts, but also holds a doctorate and taught life-science courses in college for 11 years.

Elected to the Senate in 2001, Erickson has taken aim at drunken driving repeat offenders, among other issues. He's been a key player in recent attempts in Harrisburg to reach consensus over property-tax relief; he gets the intricacies of that issue in a way many of his colleagues do not.
