Boat crash in Bucks kills one

A 25-foot boat running at high speed without lights crashed into scaffolding hanging from the Amtrak bridge over Neshaminy Creek in Bucks County early Saturday morning, killing at least one person, witnesses said in interviews yesterday.

"There was a boating accident. There was a single fatality" about 2 a.m. Saturday, said Dan Tredinnick, spokesman for the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, which is conducting the investigation.

Tredinnick declined to identify the victim or the cause of death or to provide more information until the investigation is completed in "a couple of weeks."

Though the boat washed up on the Bristol Township side of the Neshaminy, township police referred all questions about the case to the state agency.
