Phil Gosselin, a senior shortstop from Malvern Prep, has accepted a scholarship to play baseball at the University of Virginia.
According to Mike Hickey, his coach at Malvern, Gosselin picked the Cavaliers over ACC rivals Georgia Tech and Clemson.
Gosselin, a slick fielder who batted over .500 for the Inter-Ac cochampion Friars as a junior, will join another all-league player at Virginia. Germantown Academy centerfielder John Barr committed to the Cavaliers in June.
"There's also talk right now that [Gosselin] could be drafted somewhere in the first five rounds," Hickey said, referring to the June 2007 Amateur Baseball Draft.
