City Council candidate Carol Campbell, who in 2003 finished a year of probation for breaking Pennsylvania's campaign law, is again facing questions about what happened to her political cash. Genesis IV, a political action committee Campbell founded soon after completing her sentence, has for months ignored a law requiring it to spell out how it spent tens of thousands of dollars raised in last year's city judicial races.
That information was supposed to be filed with the state's Bureau of Elections by Jan. 31. After getting no response to three letters sent to the committee, the bureau referred the matter to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office, which has mailed two letters of its own to the committee, press secretary Kevin Harley said.
