According to the Smoking Gun Web site, singer Trey Anastasio, 42, who has this whole mellow, laid-back late-'60s good-guy demeanor, was arrested yesterday in Upstate New York for driving while intoxicated. Anastasio, a solo artist who's famous for his years as front man for the post-Grateful Dead jammin' stoner band Phish, failed a sobriety test and was discovered to be carrying Xanax, Percocet and Hydrocodone pills.

Charged with possession, driving without a license, and DWI-drugs, the singer, who once said that "any feeling you're trying to achieve using hard drugs you're going to achieve through sobriety," was released and scheduled for a later court date.
