Among the many dubious perks that federal prosecutors allege state Sen. Vincent J. Fumo engineered through his Pennsylvania Senate office and a Philadelphia community nonprofit was the free use of a bulldozer at Fumo's farm near Harrisburg.
Well, right now that bulldozer should come in mighty handy.
The powerful South Philadelphia Democrat and veteran Harrisburg lawmaker will have to move earth - and maybe heaven, as well - to bury the acres of criminal charges lodged against him yesterday.
Fumo will have his day in court and is entitled to the presumption of innocence, of course. Indeed, he sought to preempt the indictment Monday by declaring in a Senate speech that he had "not done anything illegal."
