Victory No. 411 will be remembered as one of the all-time thrillers. With time running out, sophomore center Hilary Leifsen banked home a six-foot shot in the lane, and the Drakes stunned Girard College, 26-25, yesterday in the PIAA District 1 Class A championship game at Villanova University.
Wanting to take the final shot, Jenkintown passed the ball around for nearly a minute. However, time almost expired before the Drakes could make a game-winning attempt.
"I knew there wasn't much time left," senior point guard Allyson Michels said, "but I didn't realize exactly how many seconds were left on the clock."
