Adolor shares up on plan for additional Entereg study

Shares of Adolor Corp. rose as much as 29 percent yesterday after the company said GlaxoSmithKline P.L.C. planned an additional advanced study of Entereg, an experimental drug to treat constipation from opioid-based painkillers. The Exton company's stock closed up $1.78, or 26 percent, to $8.60 on the Nasdaq. Adolor's stock had lost almost three-quarters of its value in the 12 months through March 9. Investors in Adolor had sold on fears that GlaxoSmithKline might stop supporting Entereg development after the Food and Drug Administration asked last year for more data before the agency would consider approval. - Bloomberg News
