Trash-truck blaze shuts I-95, rail lines

Traffic on roads and rails through Delaware County was snarled for hours yesterday thanks to a spectacular trash-truck fire on an I-95 overpass that sent flaming garbage raining down on SEPTA and Amtrak rail lines.
"This day has been a mess," said Trooper Jon Sunderlin of the Media state police barracks.
After the road was finally reopened, inspections showed no structural damage to the bridge or to the highway's pavement or roadbed, said PennDot spokesman Eugene Blaum.
The incident, which is still under investigation, began shortly before 11 a.m., when a northbound tractor-trailer carrying a full load of trash crashed on an overpass, spilling trash over the guardrail.
