Sam Givens, a high-scoring forward at Academy of the New Church in Bryn Athyn, has orally committed to Drexel University.
"Drexel has a good basketball coach in Bruiser Flint, and it's a quality school," Givens said. "It's got everything I need."
The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Givens averaged 19.6 points, 11 rebounds, and five blocks per game last season while helping the Lions to a 25-3 record and the Friends Schools League championship.
Givens also had been offered scholarships by La Salle, St. Joseph's, Temple, Tulane and Virginia Commonwealth, among others.
"[Flint] was straight up with me," said Givens, who lives in Olney. "He didn't sugarcoat things. I really liked that."
