Three Lions charged in fight are off team for now

Three Penn State football players, who were suspended for the final two games of the season for their alleged connection to a campus fight in October, have been "excused" from the team, according to team sources. Defensive tackle Chris Baker, linebacker Navorro Bowman, and defensive back Knowledge Timmons are at least temporarily kicked off the team until their legal issues are resolved and their standing is determined by Penn State's Judicial Affairs office.

Team spokesman Jeff Nelson confirmed yesterday that "three members from the squad have been excused from the team," although he declined to identify them. Baker, a sophomore from Windsor, Conn., and Bowman, a redshirt freshman from District Heights, Md., await a spring trial on felony assault charges for their alleged...
