Harrisburg lineman selects Penn State
0 Comments | Philadelphia Inquirer, The, January, 2008
Penn State received the 15th commitment for its 2008 recruiting class when Brandon Ware, a 6-foot-5, 345-pound defensive tackle from Harrisburg, gave the Nittany Lions his pledge Sunday. Ware was recruited by Penn State defensive line coach Larry Johnson and took his official visit to State College last weekend.
He arrived without a scholarship offer but received one from Johnson on Saturday. The next day, he gave Joe Paterno an oral commitment at the home of the 81-year-old head coach. "It feels great," Ware, a two-star recruit, said to Blue and While Illustrated. "It's an honor because it's Penn State." The Lions are expected to add a few more prospects to their class by the time national signing day arrives Feb. 6. - Jeff McLane
