Charge dropped against Penn State's Taylor

The most serious charge against suspended Penn State defensive tackle Phil Taylor stemming from his alleged involvement in an on-campus October fight was dropped yesterday during a preliminary hearing by a Centre County judge. A felony charge of aggravated assault was tossed out, but Taylor is still bound for trial on misdemeanor charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct and summary charges of harassment and stalking.

Taylor, indefinitely removed from the team last month, was charged two weeks ago, more than four months after the incident. He was the fourth Nittany Lions player to be charged in connection with the fight. Defensive tackle Chris Baker and linebacker Navorro Bowman await trial for a number of charges, the most serious being felony aggravated assault....
