Olympic squads account for half of baseball top 10

Shawnee returns seven position starters from last year's 15-9 team and also boasts one of the nation's top pitching prospects. So it should not be a major surprise that the Renegades start the year No. 1 in The Inquirer's South Jersey preseason baseball rankings. The season starts Tuesday. Shawnee, the Patriot Division favorite, is one of five Olympic Conference teams in the top 10.

The others: No. 2 Bishop Eustace and No. 9 Seneca from the National Division and No. 3 Cherokee and No. 8 Washington Township from the American. Here is a look at the top 10, with last year's final ranking and record in parentheses: 1. Shawnee (Not ranked, 15-9).  The Renegades, coached by Brian Anderson, have starters returning to every position except third base.
