NHL: Caps pass Flyers in the playoff race

WASHINGTON - The Washington Capitals' 4-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning last night was at the same time record-breaking and heartbreaking. Record-breaking because Alex Ovechkin scored two goals to surpass Luc Robitaille's single-season NHL record for most goals by a left-winger with his 64th and 65th of the season.

Heartbreaking - at least for Flyers fans - because it very well may have knocked the Flyers out of the playoffs. With the victory, the Capitals moved ahead of the Flyers and into the eighth and final playoff slot in the Eastern Conference. Washington has 92 points; the Flyers, 91.
