Sixers Notes: NBA fines Sixers' Cheeks $25,000

76ers Notes After Wednesday's 105-88 loss to Detroit in Game 2 of the best-of-seven first-round series, 76ers coach  Maurice Cheeks  gave the officials a piece of his mind. It turned out to be an expensive piece. The NBA announced yesterday that it fined Cheeks $25,000 for verbal abuse of the officials and for not leaving the court and going directly to the locker room when the game ended.

Cheeks stayed on the court and vented to official  Steve Javie.  Before last night's game against the Pistons, the Sixers coach expressed remorse. "I know things that you should and shouldn't do, and that is certainly one you shouldn't do," Cheeks said. "I apologized for doing it, and it was an error in judgment."
