Weapons charges possible for Scarfo

Nicodemo S. Scarfo, whose home was searched last week in an FBI investigation into allegations of fraud and money laundering, may be facing collateral legal damage from the raid, in which documents and computers were seized. Agents also found two handguns in Scarfo's home in Egg Harbor Township during their search Thursday morning, according to several sources familiar with the investigation.

Scarfo, 42, the son of jailed mob boss Nicodemo "Little Nicky" Scarfo, has two convictions - one for bookmaking and the other for racketeering. As a result, he could be charged with possession of a gun by a felon, an offense that carries a potential five-year prison sentence. "If that's the case, we'll deal with it in due course," Donald Manno, Scarfo's longtime lawyer, said yesterday.
