Sports in Brief: Villanova's Curtis wins the 5,000

Senior Bobby Curtis of Villanova won the 5,000-meter run last night at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, crossing the finish line in 13 minutes, 33.93 seconds. The time was a personal best for Curtis, who finished second in the event last year. Wildcats junior Frances Koons finished 12th in the women's 5,000 in 16:28.99.

Two local 400-meter hurdlers, UCLA's Nicole Leach (West Catholic) and Auburn's Reuben McCoy (Winslow Township) both finished second in the final of their respective events.
