Firefighters never know when the biggest fire of their lives is at hand, volunteer firefighter Patrick Creed says. There's no time for special training. They just pack up and go. 11, 2001 fire at the Pentagon, one of the largest, most stubborn blazes ever fought by firefighters. The 462-page book was co-written with Rick Newman, a U.S. News & World Report staffer who drove to the Pentagon on the day of the attack and reported on it for months afterward.
