A fugitive roundup nets 2 most-wanted

Daniel Rasheed Johnson is just 19, but already he has been charged with three murders - two in Philadelphia and one in Harrisburg - and he is a suspect in two others, investigators said yesterday. He also was a fugitive. But Johnson is now in custody, snared in Operation Falcon, a project of the U.S.

Marshals Service that netted 227 fugitives, including Johnson, in a regional sweep over the last 10 days by federal, state and local law enforcement authorities. At a news conference yesterday, U.S. Attorney Patrick L. Meehan said the apprehension of so many fugitives was an "important step to keep our streets safe." It was the fourth year of the operation. John Patrignani, acting chief deputy of the U.S. marshals in Philadelphia, said that every year, "it continues to be more and more successful."
