NEW YORK - The two Delaware County men who conspired to bet on NBA games with former referee Tim Donaghy were sentenced to more than a year in prison yesterday by a federal judge. James "Baba" Battista was sentenced to 15 months in prison and three years of probation for interstate gambling charges by District Judge Carol Amon.
Thomas Martino was sentenced to one year and one day in prison and three years of probation for fraud. Both were also ordered to pay a portion of restitution to the NBA. In both cases, the jail time was at the higher end of the suggested range. "This was a very serious wagering offense," Amon said. Donaghy's sentencing is scheduled for Tuesday in the same Brooklyn courthouse. He faces up to 33 months in prison. What effect the punishments yesterday...
