Questions continue to mount about the management of the Rutgers University athletic department, which has gained national prominence with its success in football and women's basketball in recent years. The latest revelation: Robert J. Mulcahy, the son of athletic director Robert E. Mulcahy, took a job at a sports-marketing firm in 2000 just as the university was finishing negotiating a no-bid contract with the firm, Nelligan Sports Marketing Inc.
The relationship was first reported in yesterday's editions of the Star-Ledger of Newark, which has broken several recent stories about questionable dealings in the athletic department.
