Tyler's special Sadly, we read Tuesday's article "Big move ahead for Tyler School of Art." As former Tyler students, we are sure this will mean that many great and wonderful things will be forever lost. What made Tyler special was its bucolic and intimate setting. Students, art teachers, and academic teachers from Temple University did excellent work because they were inspired by their surroundings on this small campus - full of nature, charm and character.
The grand scale of the proposed building site will increase enrollment, but it will be the opposite of what made Tyler unique. As artists and art educators, we cannot believe that art students can best be taught in a sterile building with large (impersonal) classes on a concrete campus. A student will become a number,...
