It's a different ball game now for the Washington Township girls' soccer team. Instead of having both Wert twins, Dana and Shawna, to control the action at midfield, the Minutemaids have only Shawna, a first-team all-South Jersey selection by The Inquirer last season. Dana Wert suffered a broken collarbone in a 4-1 win over Clearview on Sept.
12, and in an early-season test with formidable Olympic Conference American Division rival Lenape on Wednesday, the Minutemaids lost, 3-0. Today, Township hosts division rival Eastern. Lenape midfielder Jill Hampton scored the first goal of the game by running straight down the middle and firing.
