Boston Red Sox righthander Daisuke Matsuzaka will skip his next turn in the rotation Thursday because of weakness in his right shoulder.
Manager Terry Francona said last night that an MRI exam showed no structural damage, though there was a weakness.
Matsuzaka, the World Baseball Classic MVP, is 1-5 with an 8.23 ERA.
