Staubach, Aikman team up with Hendrick for 2005

LAS VEGAS -- Former Dallas Cowboys quarterbacks Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman, who have had a hard time landing sponsors for their NASCAR racing plans, are hoping an alliance with Hendrick Motorsports, announced Sunday, will get them into Nextel Cup racing in 2005.

Hendrick, winner of five series championships, will provide Staubach's and Aikman's Hall of Fame Racing with equipment, resources and technology.

Staubach and Aikman plan to nail down a primary sponsor then put together a driver and crew.

"We want to be competitive right out of the box, but we also know that's a big hill to climb," Aikman said. "With this relationship with (team owner) Rick (Hendrick), we will be able to offer our sponsors a solid all-around racing package."
