* Boston Red Sox at Oakland Athletics: The AL West-leading Athletics hope home is where the wins are against the red-hot Red Sox.
The A's are 1-5 at Fenway Park this season. This series is the Red Sox's first visit to Network Associates Coliseum since they defeated the A's in the 2003 American League Division Series.
Both teams have been on rolls of late. The Red Sox are 30-10 and the Athletics 30-12 since July 24.
* Chicago White Sox at Texas Rangers: The Rangers, in third place in the AL wild-card race, send left-hander Kenny Rogers to the mound as they try to move up in the standings.
Rogers is 8-2 with a 4.01 ERA at home and is the only member of Texas' opening-day rotation who has not been injured this season....
