LOS ANGELES -- Some tidbits from arrivals and backstage:

* Stockard Channing, talking about this being the final season of The West Wing , said, "It could be heartbreaking, but you just go on to other things." Said West Wing co-star John Spencer: "If I were NBC, I would hold another election, bring in a whole new cast and go another eight years."

* Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston sent the red carpet into a frenzy. Aniston, who was nominated for her work on Friends , did most of the posing and interviewing while Pitt played the waiting husband.

* Four Amazing Race pairs showed up, including already eliminated Charla Faddoul and Mirna Hindoyian and still-in-the-race Colin and Christie. Said Christie, "I'm surprised anybody still recognizes us all dressed up."...
