Brown is out after hip surgery

Detroit Pistons coach Larry Brown had surgery on his left hip Wednesday and is expected to be away from the NBA champions seven to 10 days.
The surgery was necessary to revise a hip replacement Brown had 15 years ago. Brown's left hip has been causing him pain recently. However, he was on the bench for the Pistons' opener Tuesday night, and he participated in the pregame ceremony during which the team received its championship rings.
Pistons President Joe Dumars said doctors reported that the surgery was successful and that Brown will be hospitalized for up to 72 hours. He is expected to miss three or four games.
