NFL TV sideline reporters often waste viewers' time with prepared puff pieces, routine injury reports and non-newsy interviews with coaches.
On telecasts of divisional playoff games last weekend, Fox's Chris Myers and CBS' Armen Keteyian showed how to deliver noteworthy information that actually aided the broadcast.
Myers, the former ESPN announcer, cleared up the mystery of wide receiver Randy Moss walking off the field just before the Minnesota Vikings' botched fake field goal attempt in the first half against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Myers said Vikings coach Mike Tice told him at halftime Moss had walked off because they had 12 players on the field and Minnesota would have been penalized.
