For Temple coach, it's time to go

John Chaney became the head coach of Temple University's basketball team in 1982, about eight years after coach Fred Shero took the National Hockey League's Philadelphia Flyers to the first of two consecutive Stanley Cup victories.
Shero's players were known more for the punches they threw than for the goals they scored on their way to winning those NHL titles -- thuggish behavior that caused them to be labeled the "Broad Street bullies."
Through the end of last season, Chaney's Temple team, which plays at the other end of Broad Street in the City of Brotherly Love, had won 483 games while losing just 224. His players have been known mainly for their basketball skills, not their ability to punch in the clench. That is, until now.
