GLENDALE, Ariz. -- One month into his new career, the greatest overachiever in NHL history found himself saddled with one of the league's most underachieving teams.

Wayne Gretzky wasn't happy with his last-place Phoenix Coyotes nine days ago. So, after two sour losses, the coach and hockey legend put his players through a 45-minute, no-puck skateathon, followed by a 30-minute practice with pucks, a punishing reminder that hard work and preparation lay the foundation for success.
