*It's only April, but ABC already is giving the season heave-ho to two sitcoms, George Lopez (tonight, 8 ET/PT) and Freddie (8:30 ET/PT). In what could be interpreted as a bid for renewal, George winds up with a cliffhanger as George faces unemployment, Angie faces a possible pregnancy, and Benny hits the road rather than face questions about a robbery. Meanwhile, Freddie pulls a season-ending switch of its own as Chris ends up poor, homeless and ensconced in Freddie's apartment, thanks to a conflict with his rich grandfather (Burt Reynolds). Will that be enough to save either show? That depends on how lousy ABC's development is and how desperate the network is for sitcoms. So if you're a fan, you're going to have to hope for the worst.
