NHL takes its time to make right call

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The NHL showed it will delay as long as necessary when it comes to using video review to make the correct call on a disputed goal.

With 4.1 seconds left in the first period Monday, a shot by Craig Adams was stopped by Edmonton Oilers goalie Jussi Markkanen and the puck caromed into the air and seemed to drop right on the goal line. There was a scramble in the goal crease, and it appeared there might be grounds for the awarding of a penalty shot because the puck might have been gloved in the crease by an Edmonton player.

After a lengthy delay of several minutes, a penalty was called on Ethan Moreau for high sticking behind the play, well before the messiness in the crease.
